Sheboygan, WI - On December 13, 2017, Cascio Music of New Berlin, WI, teamed up with The Spirit of Harmony Foundation at the Stephanie H. Weill Center of the Performing Arts for a musical instrument drive. The event collected both new and used instruments for children in need.

The Spirit of Harmony Foundation is led by Todd Rundgren in the hopes of promoting personal development and self-expression for young people through instrument based education. Todd Rundgren is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer songwriter and record producer. Cascio Music is a proud supporter of the Spirit of Harmony Foundation and their mission to enrich the lives of children through music education.

The foundation focuses on music being an integral part of the human experience. The Spirit of Harmony believes that music plays a role in critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity and the formation of life skills.

“The Spirit of Harmony Foundation exists to make sure new hands are learning to play music, new ears are learning to appreciate it, and new hearts are learning to love it,” Rundgren said.

“Our goal is to support music education in any way we can. The Spirit of Harmony Foundation exactly aligns with our goals and we are excited to get more musical instruments in the hands of children in need,” said CEO Mike Houser of Cascio Music.

During the event, Cascio Music collected and donated over 60 instruments both new and used. The instruments ranged from brasswinds, woodwinds, violins, ukuleles and more. Next semester, 37 of those instruments will be placed in the hands of children in the area.

DrummerFest 2017 Shows off the Best and Brightest Drumming Stars and Brands at Cascio Music

New Berlin, WI - On Saturday, October 14, 2017 Cascio Music hosted their seventeenth annual Drummerfest event. The drum clinic was free to the public and featured a wide variety of performances by notable drummers in the industry. Representatives from well known drummer brands like DW, Zildjian, Tama, Pearl, Yamaha, and Paiste were also at the event offering discounts and discussing their latest products.

Drummerfest has continued to host successful musicians year after year. This year, it featured artists like Daru Jones, Joe Saylor and Will Kennedy. After their performances, the artists were able to meet fans and offer their insight.

Daru Jones was the first to play. He is known for his hip-hop and rock drumming. He played his DW/Pacific Daru Jones drum set along with his signature Paiste Daru Jones cymbal set-up.

“His playing featured “un-quantized” grooves, slightly off-time, but in-the-pocket at the same time. The result of this is an extremely fat groove, which delighted the crowd and the other artists on the roster.” said Scott Thayer, Cascio's Drum and Percussion Purchaser.

The next up was Joe Saylor, a jazz/New Orleans drummer, known for being the percussionist on the Late Show with Steven Colbert. He brought with him an upright bass player and a saxophonist. The three played a unique set with music influenced by Latin and New Orleans styles. Joe played a Tama Star drum set with Zildjian cymbals.

“Joe also did one of his famous tambourine solos, which was an amazing and dazzling display of hand work, foot work and voice, which brought the house down,” commented Thayer.

The last player of the day was the notable Will Kennedy, a fusion drummer. Will is known for his work in the group The Yellowjackets and has been recognized as one of the top drummers in the world.

“His solos were smooth, fluid, powerful, creative and flamboyant all at once. He talked with the crowd with great enthusiasm and humor, and his stories and insights were inspiring and entertaining,” said Thayer.

“We've been so fortunate and lucky, for these past 17 years to have secured such phenomenal artists for our Drummerfest event,” said Thayer.

The brand representatives from Zildjian, Tama, Pearl, Yamaha, and Paiste showed off their latest gear and new products. There was special pricing on artists sponsored brands, big drum giveaways and discounts on their products. The event proved to be a success, and plans are being made for the coming years.
