No Quarter Featuring four separate competitions - Classical, Fingerstyle, Jazz, and Rock & Blues - the Wilson Center Guitar Festival is open to competitors of all ages. Thanks to the generosity of our Competition Prize Money Sponsors Mark & Sharon Cameli in memory of John Cameli, our fifth anniversary Festival will feature increased prize money totaling $32,000.

Applications will open on February 1, with a deadline to apply by May 31.

No Quarter

Composed of guitarist Meng Su and Yameng Wang, the Beijing Guitar Duo has performed throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. This past season took them to countries such as Germany, Russia, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Poland, China, Panama, and the United States. The duo has toured extensively with their mentor Manuel Barrueco, appearing in such countries as Germany, Finland, Spain, Russia, as well as the United States.

The Beijing Guitar Duo's performances and recordings have impressed the public with "an ability and artistry that exceeds their years." Their debut CD Maracaipe, received a Latin-GRAMMY nomination for the titled piece, which was dedicated to them by renowned guitarist/composer Sergio Assad. Their second CD, Bach to Tan Dun, has been widely noted for the world-premiere recording of Tan Dun's Eight Memories in Watercolor, specially arranged for the duo by Manuel Barrueco. A recording in trio, China West, with Maestro Barrueco was released in May 2014.

Gareth Pearson: Welsh guitar phenomenon Gareth Pearson is already considered a virtuoso in the guitar world. He has already developed a distinctive style to his playing that has earned him the greatest accolades from world renowned players and music critics; he has been called a genius by Jan Akkerman, and Tommy Emmanuel was inspired to write a song about him which he named The Welsh Tornado.

Mike Dawes: Mike Dawes is hailed as one of the world's finest and most creative modern fingerstyle guitar performers. His acclaimed solo music has gained over 15 million hits on popular video sharing sites and since the release of his debut album in 2013 he has toured almost every continent on the planet, with an average of 150 concerts per year.

When you listen to Kevin Eubanks technique, you wonder why nobody, including you, thought of it until now. Eubanks, the Philadelphia native who took New York by storm starting out in straight ahead jazz clubs then progressive albums for contemporary jazz giant GRP Records and legendary Blue Note Records, frequent collaborations with cutting edge bassist Dave Holland, then 18 years in Jay Leno's "The Tonight Show" Band (15 as Music Director) where he played with seemingly every meaningful musician across genres.
