Armstrong step-up flutes allow students to climb one step higher on the ladder to artistry. While an Armstrong student flute provides all the necessary features and longevity to satisfy student demands, our step-up models help to move the striving student to the next playing level. The addition of a sterling silver headjoint allows a flutist’s embouchure (mouth position) to explore tone color and flexibility on a level that is impossible to achieve on a student flute. Quite simply put, the shimmer of silver is not only cosmetic but tonal. Add more silver, and our silver bodied flutes will enhance your sound even further!

A lovely higher lever intermediate flute based on the 303 platform. Featuring 14K yellow gold-plated embouchure and crown, Offset G key, Sterling Silver headjoint, body, and footjoint tube.

In 1931, William Teasdale Armstrong, a highly respected craftsman, founded his small flute repair shop in Elkhart, Indiana. Word of his skill and uncompromising commitment to quality quickly spread, and it wasn’t long before he was asked to manufacture instruments for professional musicians. The Armstrong legend was born.
