The American Classic® line combines tradition and Vic Firth style. With bold designs for fuller sound, the Classics are turned from select hickory ? a dense wood with little flex for a more pronounced sound. Hickory is also capable of withstanding a great deal of shock, making it highly durable.

The nylon tip is similar in size and shape to the 3A, providing enhanced performance and a feel closer to the original wood tip model. Nylon tips are the most durable and brightest sounding on cymbals. Length= 16 3/16? Diameter= .580?

  • My New Favorite
  • February 11, 2016

I have played all types of drum stick sizes and brands over the last 40 years. For the most recent three years, my "go to" stick was the Vic Firth American Classic 5BN. I recently tried the 3AN and I love this stick. Vic Firth American Classic drumsticks are made from superior quality hickory. The nylon tip brings out the best ping in your ride cymbal. The 3A weight is a bit heavier than the 5B, and the shoulder is a little beefier. The result is a stick that is not too heavy but very sturdy and long-lasting through many gigs. I found that I can order multiple pairs through Casio and save money on my new favorite drumsticks.

  • Love These Sticks!

I have been a faithful Vic Firth fan for over 20 years now. I used to play with VF Rock Nylons, but I switched to the 3A Nylons for a softer feel with the various types of music I play. These sticks feel awesome. As far as durability, they last a long time. And like always, I can count on the quality and matches of Vic Firth. I would highly recommend these sticks, and this size, to anyone out there looking for a perfect stick and size for a diverse musical situation.
