After changing a whole bunch of snare wires over the years, my favorite cord to use is the Ludwig type. It seems to be stronger than off-brand cord. I haven't had any break, even when I've used it on rock snare drums. There is nothing worse than breaking a piece of snare cord at a gig, as you may know. I also prefer the look of the cord over the snare straps, especially on vintage drums. This 10 yard length should last you a very long time, as well.
