The Deluxe Hot Rails Fender Squier Stratocaster is both versatile and high-performance. This guitar carries on the classic Fender tradition and vibe, but under the hood are modern hot rod mods that bring this guitar to life. The Duncan Designed pickups create beautiful clean tones as well as rip-roaring distortion and near endless sustain. Walked around the store several times and found myself continually coming back to this beauty so I figured it was time to play it. I was immediately impressed with the power of the Duncan Designed Power Rails. They absolutely scream when dimed, and when you roll back the volume they become a touch sensitive virtuoso. Playability in the store was acceptable and after some modest tweaking at home it quickly became "mine". Finish is perfect, neck pocket and fit is perfect. Fret ends are smooth and even. Tuners work very smooth with no binding or jumping. The satin finish saddles in the bright chrome bridge plate is a subtle detail that catches the eye but doesn't dominate the overall appearance. Weight and balance is perfect. There is some threads on the internet about the bridge pickup and the middle pickup being reversed... I guess the only way to check would be to check resistance. If they are, it doesn't seem to have done any harm to the way mine sounds. Keep in mind, these are not single coils. This guitar will not sound like Clapton's Blackie or white Strat of Hendrix days. If you love the Strat shape and feel, but want someting with a bit more horsepower and sustain (which by the way, is awesome)you might want to check one out. Oh yeah.... got a great deal on it from Cascio, and that never hurts.
