The Supraphonic snare is legendary for a reason. It has the iconic sound heard on countless records and it just sounds like a snare drum should sound. The aluminum ("Ludalloy") is a great mix between the common maple and brass sounds, so if you just want one snare to do it all, this is it.

I picked up a Supra LM402 when I got hired to do a session with a band that had a big rock sound. I took seven high quality snares to the session, but I wanted to start with the 402. I cranked up the bottom head pretty tight and the top head just a bit lower. The engineer had me hit that thing a few times and then came running into the room with a huge smile. That was the quickest I have ever dialed in drum sound in the studio. We were stoked that we got that big Bonham sound! To my delight, the snare worked great on the more mellow tunes and one song in particular that had a "World Music" vibe. I never touched the other snares!

Whether you are considering a good first Pro Level snare , or you are building an arsenal - You Need This Drum! this is the industry standard, most heard, most imitated drum out there. the allow shell will give you the right amount of cut and dryness, with out the resonance that you can get with brass - this is one of the main reason it was the choice of a player like John Bonham. Very expressive without being too over the top. if you are looking for the true snare drum sound - this is it!
