The Ludwig Bronze Series is a unique mixture of a metal snare drum with wood shell characteristics. The bronze seamless shell offers the sharp "snap" and projection of a metal drum with the smooth warmth of a wood shell. Choose the smooth shell for ultimate resonance or a hammered shell for a drier more articulate response. Features include standard triple-flanged hoops, Imperial or tube lugs, and Millenium snare strainers.

  • My new favorite snare drum.

I bought the Ludwig 6.5x14" Hammered Bronze Snare with Imperial Lugs. It didn't take long for this to become my favorite snare drum. I'm using it with Ambassadors and Puresound Brass snares. The stock heads and snares are good; I just have my preferences. This drum sounds huge. It's just meaty. It's never sharp or painful. Steel's cut may be better for you if you are \m/ This drum is loud and works well with many styles. The hammering gives it a dryer sound and less pitch to its ring. It tuned up easily and has a good tuning range. The only Con is the price. I got a great price from Interstate Music and loved the drum so much I bought the 5x14" Hammered Bronze with Tube Lugs as well. I prefer the 6.5" depth. It sounds better at lower tunings IMO and also sounds good at higher tunings. If you like higher tuned drums and faster response times, then consider the the 5". Fabulous Drum!
