  • Great crunchy sound

Great, loud foot tambourine. No need for microphone. Cuts through the open air and into open mics. I play hand drums while using this and it cuts through the mix fine on stage with a condenser mic on my drums. I chose this model as opposed to the other design that looks more like a little tambourine rather than just jingles on a board like this design, because I wanted a distinct, focused crunch when I stomp downward with my foot. This works perfectly for that. The other design made by meinl and other companies is more for the back and forth motion of the tambourine and as far as I'm concerned is not practical for the foot, and is often less crucial to the music than the focused crunch this adds. And driving the back and forth tambourine with your foot rapidly tires you out to the point of having to stop. I also use the meinl foot shaker around my ankle along with other angle bells and egg shakers shoved in my socks. This allows me to stomp my heal, for a shaker/lighter bell sound, stomp my toe for a louder crunchier sound, or stomp my entire foot for a fuller louder crunchy sound. I have these all on both feet and use a kick drum too at times too. I'm very pleased with the piece. I hope the strap holds up. It's definitely wearing and threads are coming out at the edges. There's only an approximately 1 inch piece of the loop side velcro at the end of the strap which is entirely made out of the soft, fuzzy side of velcro. When wearing shoes, this is fine. when not wearing shoes, the strap goes barely too far around my foot and the two types of velcro don't meet up. I sewed another inch of the loop side of velcro under the one that is already sewn in so that it works perfectly now. Don't stand barefoot with this on your foot because the wood edge will quickly eat into your foot. Must sit to use it barefoot. I've always had socks or shoes on when I use it. Never tried completely barefoot. Still hurt while standing with socks on.
