Used by John Entwistle on his final tour the JE-RPM-1 Pre Amp has been re-released by Ashdown. John Entwistle’s thunderous bass sound and style has left an indelible mark on the history of both the instrument and popular music.
In memory of the legendary bassist, Ashdown are now re-issuing the last touring rig used by Entwistle - the RPM-1 Pre Amp and ABM-1000 Power Amp. Both will be meticulously crafted in Ashdown’s UK based Custom Shop. If you like your bass heavy and loud this is a great choice.
This pre amp features a powerful 7-band EQ that combines standard bass, middle and treble controls with two pairs of additional sliders giving 15dB of cut and boost at 180Hz, 340Hz, 1.3kHz and 2.6kHz. The EQ can be switched in/out and between flat and shaped using an optional footswitch for those moments when you need to really cut through the mix.
Ashdown’s legendary Sub-Harmonic Generator precisely tracks the main signal and reproduces it an octave lower before mixing it back in to the original. This lets you create everything from a subtle thickening, good for jazz/RnB, to a full-on earthquake-inducing rumble for rock and metal.
