My rating is based on quality and tone for the price, and nothing is a five out of the box. I bought this guitar for the Smaller OM body and solid mahogany top. I own two other acoustics, one a cedar top, and the other an all solid wood spruce/mahogany. I was looking for something with a darker growly sound to round out my tonal choices, as I play a variety of styles. So here is my impression. The guitar is made in Korea, and the Koreas' makes nice guitars. The fit and satin finish are beautiful. I could not be more pleased with the quality. The set-up is incredible. This guitar is inspected and set up professionally right here in the USA as per advertisements. I did no not like the D'Addario EXP strings. They are PHB coated. Take them off and throw them in the trash. Kind of got a weird tone. I have tried them on other guitars and hated them as well. Restring the instrument with Martin SP PHB's 11 or 12's. These strings not only sound great, they hold their tone a long time. You will be amazed at the difference. Now you have great tone with dark grit, but not too dark. The mahogany makes the notes very punchy as well, great for finger and flat picking. Strum the instrument and you get a meaty growl. If you are use to bright tone like the Taylor's you may not like it at first, but give it a chance and you will love it. If you like the Martin tone, this should be right up your alley. I owned a Martin solid Sapele DRS1; sold it. This is a much nicer instrument and the sound blows the Martin DRS1 away at nearly half the price. This smaller body OM is Loud and articulate. I don't plug in, if I want amplification I mic my sound so the electronic are not a big deal to me, but the tuner is handy and extremely accurate. I almost went for a much more expensive Mahogany instrument and glad I did not. I do not think you can get a better mahogany top guitar for under a grand. Way to go Breedlove.
