- Gibraltar #6709 Heavy Double-Braced Boom Cymbal Stand - Top Notch!

This is a top-notch Cymbal Boom Stand from Gibraltar's #6700-Series that I can highly-recommend. (But just to be sure, search You Tube for "Ben Minal Ultimate Cymbal Stand" for another excellent review of these)!
If you need a good Cymbal Boom Arm for a Rack Mount System or to fit in a Multi-Mount Tom/Cymbal Stand, the "Gibraltar #SCLBBT 16" Cymbal Boom Arm w/ Brake Tilter" has the exact same features as this complete #6709 Boom Arm Cymbal Stand, and there is also a shorter 12" boom model.
I am using just one these #6709 cymbal boom arm stands when I need an extra cymbal in my setup such as a China, EFX, or a second Ride cymbal.
Sometimes I will also mount a Cowbell and/or Wood Block holder to this stand for more versatility, and I have also mounted a 12" Rack Tom to it and it remains completely stable.
My main setup uses Two of the "Gibraltar #9613PM Adjustable 3-Mount Tom Stands" for my entire 2-Up/2-Down drum kit. I have One of these 3-Mount Stands on Each side of my Bass Drum and Each stand is holding a Single Rack Tom AND Two #SCLBBT Cymbal booms.
So if I'm not using the #6709 boom stand with the above setup, I have 4 Cymbals flying AND 2 Rack Toms on just 2 Stands! The only other stand on the floor is the Hi-Hat stand. So there is MUCH less clutter on the floor and much less weight & bulk to carry back and forth to gigs! :) If I do add the #6709 boom stand into the mix, well that is still just 4 stands total on the floor (including the Hi-Hat), and the #6709 will usually be holding multiple items as mentioned.
With this #6700 stand I haven't had any issues whatsoever with the boom arm shifting, loosening, or tipping with all the offset weight on it, and I use several heavy, vintage Zildjian 22" ride cymbals. And being a 2-Riser Stand allows this stand to go fairly low to accommodate a very low-flying ride cymbal over your floor tom(s).
They are solid and sturdy stands and have well-designed Memory Locks on both the risers and the boom section for quick setup. The additional tilter lock completely secures the tilter mechanism, even if the main tilter wing-nut were to come loose...but it never has.
The Rounded rubber feet grip very well no matter how far open or closed the legs are set, unlike other stands that have a flat section on the bottom of the rubber feet which will only grip best when the legs are in the fully-extended position.
I also like the individual wing-nut locks for the separate Boom Tilt and Boom Arm Rotation adjustments. The boom section will also hide inside of the vertical riser tube if you need a "straight" cymbal stand option.
In my experience, all of the above-mentioned Gibraltar hardware has been rock-solid and feature-rich. Also these are much less expensive than the equivalent H-D pieces from the major drum manufacturers, and IMO just as good if not better.
These stands are a great deal, especially with Cascio's great prices and service, and Free Shipping...and even better if there is a discount sale going on with a PROMO Code!
Good job Gibraltar and Cascio!
