Bari reeds are synthetic and made from a special formula that absorbs a certain percentage of moisture and always remains constant in that it cannot warp or squeak. These reeds are not to be confused with anything you have ever experienced in a molded plastic reed. All reeds are machined, just like cane, and are 100% consistent.

Bari began with one man's mission to achieve a unique sound. Wolfe Taninbaum, the designer of the original Bari reeds and mouthpieces, was a musician who played under the stage name of Wolfe Tayne. After years of trying to perfect cane reeds, he turned to synthetics and in 1952 developed his first synthetic reed. It was the first one to gain acceptance from some of the world's top musicians.
