- Gibraltar SCLBBT 16" Cymbal Boom Arm w/ Brake Tilter - Top Notch!

IMO, this is a top-notch Cymbal Boom Arm that I can highly-recommend. It is basically the exact same as the top riser tube section and boom arm section from the also highly-recommended Gibraltar 6700-Series Heavy Double-Braced Boom Cymbal Stand #6709. (Search You Tube for 'Ben Minal Ultimate Cymbal Stand' for an excellent review of these).
This Cymbal Boom Arm has the exact same features as that Gibraltar #6709 stand, just without the double-braced tripod base and without the two lower riser sections.
I am using a total of 4 of these cymbal boom arms, with 2 of these mounted in each of two 'Gibraltar #9613PM Adjustable 3-Mount Tom Stands" for my entire 2-Up/2-Down drum kit. One of these 3-Mount Stands is on Each Side of my Bass Drum and each stand is also holding a single Rack Tom.
Using this setup, I have 4 Cymbals flying and two Rack Toms on just 2 Stands. The only other stand on the floor is the Hi-Hat stand. So there is MUCH less clutter on the floor and much less weight & bulk to carry back and forth to gigs! :)
I haven't had any issues with these boom arms shifting, loosening, or tipping with all the offset weight on them, and I use several heavy, vintage Zildjian 22" ride cymbals.
They are solid and sturdy and have well-designed Memory Locks on both the riser and the boom section for quick setup. The additional tilter lock completely secures the tilter mechanism, even if the main tilter wing-nut were to come loose...but it never has.
I also like the separate wing-nut locks for the boom tilt and arm rotation. The boom section will also "hide" inside of the vertical tube riser if you need a "straight" cymbal stand option.
In my experience, all of the above-mentioned hardware has been rock-solid and ends up greatly simplifying setup & breakdown time in addition to costing a lot less than having to use many more individual H-D stands. Also these are much less expensive than the equivalent H-D pieces from the major drum manufacturers, and IMO just as good if not better.
Good job Gibraltar! I'll be buying more of these for my other kit!
