Firstly, I want to honestly say that I used a set of these beaters for 6+ years before needing to replace them. They suited me greatly considering that I used them in combination with a metal impact pad for a great "click/boom" triggered sound that I achieved acoustically...so they took a real beating. Naturally, my instinct was to order a new pair after their stellar track record. However, after implementing the new pair of beaters onto my pedal for band rehearsal that evening, the wood discs on BOTH beaters detached from the flat surface they were glued to and splintered into pieces within 30 minutes of play. After the incredible performance of my first set and what happened immediately to my new set, I can only assume that Tama is using lesser quality wood and/or glue on these beaters than the ones I bought 6+ years ago. NEVER AGAIN! Cascio was great enough to ship me out another type of beater as a replacement and I have nothing but good things to say about them. If you do want a good quality/reliable wood beater, do yourself a favor and give the Danmar 205 wood beaters a shot instead of these.
