In my opinion, the one and ONLY needed device for eliminating unwanted overtones. Re-usable, cleanable, AND cheap. Also, doesn't leave residue, or look unprofessional like tape does. Perfect amount of dampening, without sacrificing the tone and character of the drum.

I really like Moongels, and use them all the time. They're re-usable and washable... but most importantly, they work. Care and experimentation should be taken with quantity and placement to ensure you get the tone you want. But... Recent experience has taught me to be careful with storage. I bought a new pack the other day and accidentally left it in my car (on the passenger seat) for a couple of days. It wasn't even very hot (April in the Pacific Northwest), but by the time I ended up opening the pack, the four Moongel pads had merged into a single Moongel blob. I was able to cut into usable pieces with scissors... but still less than ideal.
