Yamaha marching instruments are designed for easy-to-play rugged durability. The consistent quality and ability to produce big, exciting sounds have made them a popular feature on football fields and in parades everywhere. Each model is designed to be durable at traditionally vulnerable points and to be well balanced for easy holding while marching. This marching tuba is used by all types of marching ensembles, including the 2002 DCI world champion Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps.
Hand-lapped pistons
Hand-lapping is a time-consuming finishing process which results in superior valve fit for noiseless, responsive action and easy tone changes
Hand-lapped slides
Hand-lapping achieves the perfect balance between airtightness and smooth action
Heavy bracing throughout
Because this tuba is used in marching band, it has heavy bracing throughout the instrument to make it more durable at the vulnerable points
Convertible leadpipe
The reinforced convertible leadpipe for marching allows the instrument to be played in concert and marching settings. The marching leadpipe also has an extra water key to facilitate drainage while marching. The marching leadpipe can be adjusted so the tuba is held on either the left shoulder or the right.
