Yamaha compensating euphoniums permit the most subtle nuances of dynamics and tonal inflection. The compensating system ensure the player superior control over intonation. The hand-hammered yellow brass bell features a new taper design for maximum projection and dark tonal color. The non-corrosive, gold brass leadpipe also has a taper design to allow greater control and response. All slide tubing is nickel-silver for improved tone and is corrosion resistant. Top-of-the-line euphonium features compensating system for superior intonation.

Monel pistons
Monel pistons are resistant to corrosion and are an ideal choice for professional baritone pistons which much retain precise fit and smooth action over many years

Hand-lapped valves and slides
Hand-lapping valves and slides ensures an absolutely perfect fit and seal between the valve pistons and casing or slide parts. Such a perfect fit helps to achieve smooth air flow and smooth action and improve the response and intonation of the instrument

Pressure formed tubing
Perfectly rounded tubing results in less turbulence and a smoother air flow, thus allowing for an excellent scale and reduced resistance

Hand-hammered yellow bell
A hand-hammered yellow brass bell produces a slightly more intense tone with a pure, perfectly-balanced tone with quick response and extra presence

Compensating system
The compensating system found on the YEP642 ensures accurate tuning on all notes throughout the instrument's range, particularly in the difficult low range

Bell taper and leadpipe
The combination of the bell taper and leadpipe is designed for greater projection, control and response

True and centered intonation makes this great euphonium even better

  • Key: Bb/F
  • Bore: .591-.661"
  • Bell: 11.8" hand-hammered upright yellow brass bell
  • Bell flare: Large
  • Valves: 3 top-action and 4th slide-action monel pistons of a primarily nickel and copper alloy
  • Valve casings: Gold brass valve casing used in conjunction with monel pistons ensures long-lasting accuracy and faultless action
  • Tuning slides: Nickel silver slide tubing resists corrosion and improves tone
  • Clear epoxy lacquer: Microscopic, electrically-charged particles of lacquer are attracted to and deposited evenly on the surface of the instrument carrying the opposite charge. This produces an exceptionally thin, uniform coating that can be oven-hardened for maximum durability without compromising the instrument's sound. The sound produced is a solid, somewhat harder sound than silver-plated finishes
  • Gold brass leadpipes: Gold brass is extremely resistant to wear and corrosion, and hen used in a leadpipe, it ensures long-term precision
  • Mouthpiece receiver: Large shank
