The Genera is a 10mm single-ply with the fat spread of a double-ply. A 2mm overtone control ring on the underside "floats" with the head, eliminating excessive overtones. Additional dry vents eliminate stray harmonics.

I have been playing for over forty years and have tried hundreds if not thousands of drum heads. If I could only have one snare drum batter head it would be the Evans Genera Dry. Pair it with the Evans Hazy 300 snare side head and you can make most any snare drum sound good.

If you're looking for a head with minimal overtones, this is worth a try. I have used this on a wood snare and a metal snare. It did take out some of the overtones, especially on the metal snare. It tends to tune up a little higher, so you can really get a nice rim shot sound and good sensitivity with this head. Also, it seems to be pretty durable, which is always a plus.
